1. Mutual consent for chats

   “Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey.” We’ve all seen this before on the other apps.

   That doesn’t happen on Beau. You’ve got to make a mutually-approved connection before chat opens between two people.

2. Data security

   We’ve all heard about the disasters in the 2026 vibe coding landscape.

   This app is built by an engineer and product manager with over ten years in the industry. I’ve seen the mistakes one can make, and I’m not here to repeat them.

   Beau is built on the principle of least privilege, meaning your account can only reach the data that is absolutely necessary for the app to work for you.

   The content you upload that is supposed to be public — your profile, your posts — is public. The rest of your data, including messages and images sent in chat, remains secure.

3. Your location is never on display

   We’ll never display how far away you currently are from another user.

   If you opt in to our background location feature, that data only stays on our server for 30 days. Your historical location data is only accessible to the code on our server that produces notifications for YOU, hinting that you might want to read someone else’s post.

   The original poster will never see that you were near them at a similar time.

4. Reporting and moderation

   Beau is built for adult gay men, and no one wants an unsolicited eggplant pic.

   All photos on public surfaces — profiles and posts — are moderated by a purpose-built machine learning system, and are immediately rejected if they are unfit for the Beau app.

   You may also report a profile with inappropriate content, or a user who is sending improper messages. Those reports are responded to within 24 hours.

Safety work is never finished. If you see something on Beau that shouldn’t be there, report it — we would much rather hear about it early.
